It always feels weird "liking" these posts. I know that's just a way of acknowledging that I read it and appreciate the work it took to put these horrible facts together, but the "like" still gets me, because I can't stand any of this!!!! I know the death rate from these treatments is low, but just a few deaths from a wholly unnecessary medical intervention should be sounding alarms. And, of course, this low death rate doesn't take into account either the life-time health problems/quality of life issues or the lower life expectancy associated with these interventions, which will lead to many more deaths in 30,40, 50 and 60-year-olds.

if one has a tooth ache, and this pain is measured. and then if same person incurs a greater pain. then while the greater pain is occuring the individual's tooth pain is measured again, one may not measure the tooth pain as being as great. but this is a short term solution and eventually the greater pain causes more problems than it addresses. there is no evidence that gender affirming care helps anyone in long term. and systematic reviews show that even in the short term this "care" offers zero benefit.

but that doesnt stop the mens rights activists promoting this fraud from plying their wares. to them, public policy is just a nut to be cracked, a riddle to be solved, like any other technical barrier.

Back in 1996, when my husband "transitioned" the psychologist I paid to assist with our older son's suicidal ideation directly related to his father demanding not to be called "Dad" he said something that probably should have been explored in psychology. He said his field (fancy, expensive, taking no insurance psychologist) could not tell the difference between a masochist and a transsexual, because the latter wants to damage/remove his body parts. I bet he stopped saying that so openly in the decade after.
